Richard Livingstone

Richard Livingstone has been a councillor in this area since 2006 and was a member of Southwark’s cabinet for ten years. In that role he put in place the council’s Living Wage and Ethical Social Care charters to ensure people working with the council were paid fairly and persuaded the council to declare the Climate Emergency. He oversaw a significant improvement of the repair of the borough’s council homes whilst he was cabinet member for housing and introduced Southwark’s first School Streets.

Locally, Richard has been working hard to make sure that local people are the first to benefit from any redevelopment around the Old Kent Road, by making sure that there is sufficient new social housing, homes for families and better green spaces, and he has been opposing developments where that is not the case.

Richard is currently Chair of Planning.
