Labour is currently on course to complete or begin construction of 2,500 new council homes this May; new, high quality and affordable homes for local people. This is more than any other council in the UK is building, despite the government’s restrictions on building council homes.

Southwark currently has 16,500 families on the housing waiting-list and Labour is determined to do all we can to give local people a place to call home. We appreciate people have concerns about some of the building and we are doing what we can to limit the impact of this. At the same time we have a duty to those 16,500 families to provide them a home.
